Our commitment

Brightside Behavioral Health is committed to ensuring that safein.org and the SAFEin tool are accessible to all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies. We design and build with accessibility in mind, and we work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checkbox. We appreciate feedback from users who encounter barriers.

What we do

Our accessibility efforts include:

• Semantic HTML structure for screen reader compatibility
• Sufficient color contrast ratios across all text and interactive elements
• Keyboard-navigable interface without requiring a mouse
• Descriptive alt text for meaningful images
• Legible font sizes with sufficient line height and spacing
• Clear focus indicators for interactive elements
• Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200%

Known limitations

We are aware of the following areas where we are actively working to improve:

• Some decorative graphic elements on the homepage may not yet have optimized ARIA labels.
• The SAFEin web application is in active development. Accessibility testing for the tool interface will be completed prior to its fall 2026 launch.
• Third-party components (including the school interest form powered by Tally) are subject to the accessibility standards of their respective providers.

If you encounter an accessibility barrier on this site or within SAFEin, we want to know. Please describe the issue and the page or feature where you encountered it. We aim to respond within two business days.
