Agreement to these terms

By accessing safein.org or using the SAFEin tool, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use this site or its tools. These terms apply to all visitors, educators, school administrators, and any other users.

Who SAFEin is for

SAFEin is designed and intended exclusively for use by adults working in school settings — teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff. It is not for use by students or minors under any circumstances. Schools participating in the SAFE Initiative are responsible for ensuring SAFEin is accessible only to authorized staff.

What SAFEin is not

SAFEin provides AI-generated guidance based on clinician-approved content. It is a support tool for trained adults in educational settings. It is explicitly:

• Not a substitute for clinical judgment. Responses are guidance, not clinical decisions. Licensed mental health professionals should make clinical determinations.
• Not a crisis intervention tool. If a student is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or contact BH Link at 401-414-LINK.
• Not a diagnostic tool. SAFEin does not diagnose any condition, assess any individual, or recommend medication or therapy.
• Not a replacement for school counselors. SAFEin supplements what counselors and trained staff already do. It does not replace human judgment, relationships, or professional mental health services.

Appropriate use

Educators using SAFEin agree to:

• Describe situations in general terms without identifying individual students by name or other identifying detail
• Use the tool only for its intended purpose (de-escalation support, behavior interpretation, family communication guidance)
• Not attempt to extract, reproduce, or distribute the AI's underlying prompts, training content, or clinical frameworks
• Not use SAFEin for any purpose unrelated to educator support in school settings

Copyright and intellectual property

All content on this website, including text, design, clinical frameworks, and the SAFEin tool interface, is the property of Brightside Behavioral Health LLC and is protected by copyright. The SAFE Initiative name and SAFEin name are used exclusively by Brightside Behavioral Health.

You may share links to this site freely. You may not reproduce, republish, or distribute content from this site without written permission from Brightside Behavioral Health.

Limitation of liability

Brightside Behavioral Health provides SAFEin as a support resource in good faith, grounded in clinical expertise. We are not liable for decisions made by educators or administrators in response to AI-generated guidance. All guidance is advisory. Educators remain responsible for their own professional judgment and their obligations under applicable law.

The SAFE Initiative and SAFEin are provided "as is" during the pilot phase. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of the tool for any particular purpose.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of the site or SAFEin after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be reflected in the updated date at the top of this page.
